Poem 10
A Flame Burns in My Heart
A flame burns deep within my heart,
Put there so long but now I start,
To soar above the Earth renewed,
Embracing chores that life accrues.
Take all their measure, each in time.
Though I blend a magic spaced by rhyme.
There is no longing that I see,
That cannot be beyond my me.
As worlds collide amidst such strife,
As lies are told as though they're life.
It cannot be that all we are,
Descends towards hell, so very far.
From all the dreams that we profess,
To hold so dear yet I confess.
To wonder if the time we spend,
Acquiring things we may not lend.
To people who have less but share,
Their love inside without a care.
And who is it that dares to judge,
Does hatred cause the world to budge?
Towards light and flame and harmony,
The way I think we're meant to be?
I'll not accept this status quo,
Whose choice may cause such hate to grow.
Within the hearts of all mankind,
Is righteous love so hard to find?
I choose instead to walk a path,
Defined by me without a past.
A love that burns within my heart,
That shreds the doubtful power of dark.
And in that white light I will hear,
The dreams of love that I hold dear.
