Poem 12

Life is a Struggle

Life is a struggle surrounding the we,
That blasts through a mindset so focused on me.
A jumble of emotional tangles and rhymes,
Lacking the wisdom to check on the time.

That drifts away quickly, down rivers of light,
That dearly delights in our humanly fright.
Doesn't it seem that it's somehow contrived,
To chase broken rainbows until we have died.

I'm told that the passion I strive to awake,
From decades of turmoil  that few of us shake.
By offering enrollment to those who might seek,
Relief from the rigors that plague all the weak.

It's not that the answers lay deep in our souls,
Like seeds that are planted in pots that are old.
But rather they lay on a tarmac called life,
That's filled with the questions that cause us such strife.

We search for the answers as though we have time,
To wander so aimlessly chasing a dime.
Of material Caesars, who once ruled it all,
Then fell to the charm of that sweet siren's call.

Be careful to use all the love that you dare,
And find your voice capable & loving to share;
All the wisdom that lurks deep beneath your self doubt,
To challenge the struggle and leave us without.

All the anger and madness, the red and the black,
Despite your intention there's no going back.
But rather the moments of love we can share,
And pass on to others because we all care.

For life is a struggle, and that makes it sweet;
You'll let all the passion reward the most meek.
So turn to your neighbor and lend them a hand,
And whisper your struggles like small grains of sand.

That pour through an hourglass concocted of time,
Of sweet precious memories and forgotten rhymes.
In fact all our struggles will end with a dream,
A memory left by your unending schemes.

For life is a struggle, a brief game of chance,
So stand and deliver your outrageous dance;
While moving it forward, this life that you find,
The struggle that each of us seeks to unwind.
