Poem 1
When the Road We Take Does Fade

I heard a voice both mild and meek,
And turned to see a woman sweet,
Who hid her power from the crowd,
Afraid to be a little loud.

But underneath this small facade,
There lurked a magic she had robbed,
From all her friends and each of us,
Until the actor made a fuss.

And suddenly I saw a change
As she blossomed up on stage.
And from that moment we saw it all,
powerful free and wondrous and tall.

What can I say 'bout my bud today,
Who peeked at me and looked away.
I thought she was a precious child,
Whose manner was both meek and mild.

But little did I know this girl,
Had something more beneath the whirl,
Of voices shouting down her dreams,
And lonely midnight frightened schemes.

Cause after she did let it out,
And stood with me to scream and shout.
"I am a woman strong and free
And know the world will finally see,
The power, strength and energy
That that really is the fabulous me!"

So thank you for the time we've spent,
I've learned so much from what you lent.
And when the road we take does fade,
We'll always have the change we've made.
