Poem 4

Women Talking in a Hotel

I listened closely, drawn to hear,
Two women share their words of cheer.
My ears were opened, 'twas plain to see,
And for once, so not 'bout me.

The language used flowed free and clear,
Like angel's wings of love so dear.
They didn't tell their tales like men,
Who do one better, yet hop like hens.

They listened to each other speak,
To how they felt and it was neat.
A beauty I had never seen,
About which few men ever dream.

I said to both that we could learn,
From both their loving, caring turns.
By listening to what each meant,
Of hearing how their love was sent.

For each of them the other mattered,
Their words were few but did not shatter,
The confidence of friends who see,
The other's love instead of me.

So fellas gather round and hear,
That ladies have a lot to share.
And when you feel the need to speak,
Be humble, kind and somewhat meek.

And maybe then the world will cheer,
A message that is loud and clear.
Of love and kindness passed to all.
A world that hears love's simple call.
